Nintendo 3DS Sells over 300,000 units in Europe

In Japan the Nintendo 3DS sold over 800,000 units in the first month. Over here in Europe just 2 days after the realise 303,000 units had been sold. Amazing numbers, right? But my question is this... how long will this handheld last?

The arrival of 3D in gaming and home cinema (even television - Sky 3D for example) is very new still and so knowing whether this will last long or if it is just a fad that will die down within a few years is something that is not really known. With the numbers rising with sales of Nintendo 3DS going up all the time, perhaps we are wrong to judge in an negative way after all. Having listened to a few reviews of the games on this handheld I can't really see this doing any better unless games start to look better and use the 3D very well. As far as I have seen the brand new Nintendogs + Cats has been very successful, but I believe this is because of the changes made and the use of 3D has made the game more enjoyable.

Thing is I am sick of Nintendo making changes and updating their handheld every few months. I should not be required to buy another DS just because it's screen is better, because it's lighter or because the colour is cooler. These are the things I'd expect from the first release!

Question is for fellow Nintendo DS owners: Would you go buy the new Nintendo 3DS and get rid of your old one, or are you happy with your 2D gaming life?
